The Saint francis of assisi Highschool in La Roche-sur-Yon is one of 9 regional lycées involved in testing tools to raise awareness of water-related issues among secondary school pupils, created by the Region as part of the LIFE REVERS’EAU project. The first STLs have begun testing them.
In conjunction with GRAINE (the regional network for education in the environment and ecological transition), the Region is designing a support system for educational projects on the theme of water, comprising an educational module and an Escape game, and has decided to test it with some secondary schools in the region, before rolling it out more widely to all schools in the academy at the start of the next academic year. It was in this context that the first-year STL students were able to have three sessions to discover the various issues linked to water in Pays de la Loire, in a fun way, by building, reflecting or playing with the Escape game.
On Tuesday 19 March, in the presence of Mrs Coisman Molica (LIFE REVERS’EAU Project Manager; Water, Biodiversity and Waste Department of the Region’s Directorate for Energy Transition and the Environment) and Mr Sicallac (Head of the Environment and Sustainable Development Department of the Ligue de l’enseignement de Vendée), the young people from Saint Francis discovered what a catchment area is and how pollution of a river at La Roche sur Yon can have major consequences in the Bay of Aiguillon. On 13 May, the sixth-former will be invited to the Hôtel de la Région in Nantes, along with all the other students who took part in the test phase of the scheme, for an assessment of the experiment.
