The University of Angers put the LIFE REVERS’EAU project in the spotlight at the “European Researchers’ Night” held on Friday, September 29, 2023. The aim of this event is to build bridges between the science carried out in research laboratories and the general public.
The 19th edition of the European Researchers’ Night was held at the Théâtre Le Quai in Angers, from 6pm to midnight, at the same time as in a hundred other participating cities in Europe!
One room was dedicated to the theme of water. This was an opportunity for the public to meet researchers and laboratories in Angers working on water pollution and the micro-organisms that populate our rivers and oceans… The Laboratoire de Planétologie et Géosciences (LPG) of the University of Angers, which is involved in a LIFE REVERS’EAU project to study the functioning of the Loire estuary, had a stand. Mr. Grégoire Maillet, Senior Lecturer at this laboratory and coordinator of the LIFE REVERS’EAU project, gave a talk on the campus Angers radio station: you can listen to the entire broadcast here (in French).
In addition to the LIFE REVERS’EAU project, this year the University of Angers contributed to a nationwide participatory science experiment on the availability of water resources, entitled “Grande synchr’EAU”. A protocol has been established to carry out over 1,000 measurements of water quality around the 16 participating towns. These measurements will feed into a project working on water quality on a European scale.
