The Sèvre Nantaise watershed is criss-crossed by a dense network of waterways. Rivers give structure to the territory and offer a privileged living environment. But how well do we know them? As part of the LIFE REVERS’EAU project, the Sèvre Nantaise Local Public River Basin Entity wanted to raise awareness of the issues surrounding water resources.
On the various loops of the GR de Pays Sèvre et Maine and Pays de Pouzauges, five discovery stations on the theme of water and rivers have been set up. They invite walkers to take a look at the landscape, discover the interest of the site and address current water management issues.
Each station deals with a specific theme:
- the watershed at St-Georges-de-Montaigu,
- uses at Clisson,
- drinking water in St-Aubin-des-Ormeaux,
- watercourses in Chanverrie,
- wetlands in Sèvremont.
All five stations are designed along the same lines. A circle, a work to manipulate or interact with, invites young and old to take a fresh look at the site. On the adjoining totems, short texts and games succinctly explain the issues involved. On each panel, QR codes lead to the 100 secrets of the Sèvre Nantaise website, packed with information on the watershed. Pages dedicated to each station offer additional content for the curious who want to know more, little games for children or the chance to share their observations.
In this way, the Rounds in the water trail aims to arouse and satisfy everyone’s curiosity about the workings of watercourses, in the hope that this information will interest a public increasingly aware of the urgent need to protect them.
